Auckland interior designer Nicola Manning
spent six action-packed days in the world's fashion capital Milan where
she got to see what's hot for future European kitchens at the famous
fair EuroCucina.

Leather and suede – no these are not finishes for furnishings. Honed,
leather, matt and suede are now hugely popular kitchen finishes. Also on
trend is open shelving made from powder-coated metal, mixed with more
traditional-styled cabinetry.
Wood grains, particularly laminates, are in vogue both for cabinetry and splashbacks.
"Another strong trend was the matching of the vertical and horizontal
surfaces, with benchtops and cabinetry being made in the same material
and colour," she says. "There were also some very thick chunky benchtops
on display too."
